On 4 June, the roof of the new biomass power plant that is currently under construction at Twence was briefly opened. This was necessary to let a gigantic crane hoist the brand-new turbine into place.
The work began early in the morning. One for one, the parts were lifted from the trucks and – following a brief trip through the air – delivered to the turbine hall.
There, the welcoming committee was ready to arrange the parts and join them together to complete the turbine.
The turbine was one of the last major components of the power plant that still had to be put into place.
The way it looks now, the builder, Standardkessel of Duisburg, will be able to start testing the plant’s operations within a month or two.
