Construction of the third line reaches highest point

December 13, 2007

Twelve months after the first pile was driven to officially mark the start of the construction of the third incineration line at Twence B.V., the builders have now reached the highest point in this building project.

By now, several of the most important components of this incineration plant are already in place. These include the rough construction of the flue-gas purification system by the French company LAB S.A. of Lyon, the radiator part of the boiler that Martin GmbH of Munich is making for this project and the platform on which the Italian company Franco Tosi will soon be installing the turbine. BAM Civiel is currently in the process of finishing the main concrete structures.

The construction of the support frame for the flue-gas discharge pipe to the chimney is now also underway.

In the coming weeks, work will continue on the steel construction. The builders are scheduled to begin installing the outer layer of plating in the first workweek of the new year. That will also mark the start of the phase in which Imtech and Siemens can begin working on the electrical installation and putting the process-control and calibration instrumentation into place.

By the close of 2008, Twence can start testing this third incineration line, which should be fully operational sometime in 2009.
