What makes it so nice to work at Twence?

“Anytime someone asks me this question, I never have to think very long because the answer is obvious. But first let me introduce myself: My name is René Pallencaoe. I’m a senior Waste Incenerator Operator and I’ve been working at Twence (formerly aviTwente) since July 1995. I guess the qualification ‘senior’ is a reasonable one, since most of the people I work with are younger than me. And besides that, of all the operational employees I’ve been working here the longest.

“But now to answer the question: ‘What makes it so nice to work at Twence?’ Well, that’s because it is a young and dynamic company that brings together three important things: people, the environment and technology. As a mechanical engineer, I like the fact that Twence uses state-of-the-art technology for so a broad range of applications. Just that fact is already helping me achieve my goal, which is to leave the smallest possible ‘footprint’ on the environment. After all, as a ‘grandpa’ to four grandsons, I am also very concerned about the environment, both right now and for the future. So that motivates me even more to do my work at Twence in a really professional way.

“The third aspect that makes working at Twence so enjoyable is the group of people I work with. There is a genuine team spirit based on openness, tolerance and showing respect for each other. The eagerness to learn that I notice among my co-workers and the opportunities that we have here are both what I would call extraordinary. That also holds for the general sense of camaraderie that has resulted in all kinds of little clubs within the company: from a motorcyclists club and bicyclists club to a flower-arranging club. All this is what makes it enjoyable to work at ‘Twence’.”
